Pros

Work like balance, friendly managers, flexible working hours. work from home policy. on site opportunities. Decent pay package. Internal job rotation

Cons

Lack of co-ordination between various teams, since size of the org is huge

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fast track career growth of employees who out performers. Encourage good performers to look for more challenging roles with in the org.

    It can be an employee friendly place that is fun to work in. Just don't expect career development.

    I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

    Pros

    Flexibility to work where and when best fits your life circumstance. Some very smart and effective people that can be excellent team players.

    Cons

    Shrinking company (in the US). Few opportunities to advance. Poor job developing and coaching employees. Lots of people stuck in same positions for 5,10,15 years. Very risk averse culture. Seemingly no reward for taking risks. Only punishment for failure.

    Pros

    Great people to work with, both locally and internationally.Engineers are mostly very bright people with great technological knowledge. US management is reasonable and focused in results.
    Relevant and interesting products and projects.
    Good resource availability for development, communication and sharing.

    Cons

    Local management is incompetent. A theoretic matrix model was created to keep old management relevant. Responsibility is shared meaning there is no clear decision making.
    Meritocracy is nonexistent. Salary increase is based on supporting management decisions.
    Business ignorance is widespread.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get hid of middle management (people managers). US management should intervene and focus leadership in business relevant decision making.
    Reward performance instead of complacency.
