Approves of CEO

Pros

The people to work with are generally really nice people. Depending on what site you might work at, HP does do some nice tings for the employees. Having these extra perks makes for a nice added benefit that isn't seen generally.

Cons

Too many CEO changes over the last 4 years with too much concern about the bottom line and not taking care of the employees. Yes, the bottom line is important but so are the employees that are working hard to make the company turn around. The future does look brighter however the over all employee experience will have to be re-evaluated in 9 months.

Advice to Management

Review salaries and job descriptions. There are a large number of programmers that have been lumped into the wrong job description, service info developer.

A vast global mega-bureaucracy; a lot of very good people frustrated by aloof and regal managers.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Lots of smart people with many years of experience; Opportunities to learn a lot about different aspects of the business through lateral moves.

    Cons

Slow to respond to industry shift to mobile; revolving door in the CEO's office has slowed ability to respond further; horrible board; employees seem to be held in low regard by senior management; clubby atmosphere at the top limits upward mobility; extremely political career environment.

    Advice to Management

I believe that HP's fate is sealed, over the next 2 - 5 years. So my advice is to make as much as possible for shareholders when you break up the company.
