Still a good place to work, but you better pay attention when they talk about globalization.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

ProsThe people, relaxed environment, benefits. The Parking is great. Flex time offered.

ConsOutsourcing is taking the jobs overseas. Matrix environment tends to foster apathy. Company gets reorganized so often and quickly, that some things (initiatives and projects) tend to get neglected or dropped. Losing control of the engineering resources has a tendency to reduced the quality in the products. Dealing with the OEM's over quality issues can be reduced to quibbling over the documented contractual obligations, which are usually all too general and not specific enough to protect the companies interest.

Advice to Senior ManagementSupport initiatives and projects better. Don't try to rationalize outsourcing with the globalization argument (i.e.: logistical reasons). There are some smart people here that understand the math behind the decisions.

Make sure the details in the quality agreements in the contracts with the OEM's outline accountability clearly.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
