Former Employee – worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Offers a wide variety of challenging work with good historial commercial success. Broad set of skills needed and interaction with a lot of very good people. Exposure to many facets of engineering.
Cons – HP has gotten big, and decisions seem to take a long time. Priorities have been changing often. That has led to instability in the programs. Also seems like everything is urgent so it's hard to keep to a good, solid plan.
Advice to Senior Management – The people of hp are your greatest asset. Keeping up the morale and innovation should be your #1 goal. Also, there seems to be a lot of chasing new ideas which has taken management attention away from doing the fundamental job well. Get back to the basics of good, solid engineering work.
