Pros

Great people, good learning experience, great place to start a career

Cons

Terrible pay, their "Voice of the Workforce" reviews are a complete sham.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit handing out huge bonuses to execs and pay the folks who really make the company go - individual contributors...

    Pros

    Good technology, company has large footprint in various markets and economy of scale. Cheap, fast workstations and laptops which are renewed every other year.

    Cons

    Layoffs, early retirements, attrition which means your work doubles. Awful bug tracking system, wiki, and source code control system (all three are administered on servers that are slow and prone to hanging, causing you to lose your work). Job requisitions are hard to obtain and fill. Performance reviews are artificially manipulated to keep people from getting raises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take care of your employees, not the bottom line. Mark Hurd did everything to save money except burn the furniture.

    Pros

    Good benefits. Good people. Great customers.

    Cons

    There is too much focus on stats which is hurting customer satisfaction. They need to focus on giving the customers the service they deserve and lose a few levels of management. Especially those who continue to push obscure, unnecessary stats.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Value the ones doing the work, and help them to help the customers. The customer facing employees can't continue to be cut. The middle management pushing stats are killing morale and saving their jobs by cutting the workforce directly supporting the customers. This needs to change immediately. Also, fix the tools!
