Pros

Great professional staff and team to work with. Benefit package is competitive.

Cons

Poor & inconsistant leadership at the top.
1st line and middle managers running scared and do not care about ICs, only worried to save their own job. Moral very low. Culture is crumbling bad.
Employees will be over worked going into 2013-14 because of 28000 layoffs.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recreate an HP culture the company was founded on by Bill Hewlett & Dave Packard ... with real open door policies where managers care about people, re-institute MBWA, rewarding people based on individual results with generous bonus plans around company/group/team results, invest in R&D that focus on future technology (including Big Data, Mobility, Cloud) - don't just talk about it, Walk the Talk, move employees around with job rotations world-wide, bring in younger top talent from colleges with engineering and technical degrees combined with MBAs (not with Midieval History Degrees like one CEO majored in), offer generous stock options to promising employees (not just executives), support and invest in your local communities with the HP Brand that inspires employee leadership (it not just about working at HP 50-60 hours a week), bring back rewarding achieves club, Presidents club and allow spouses to participate in local team gathering activities, find ways to build stronger relationships with partners and minimize the threat of taking all your business direct, differentiate the company from others in the industry that leaves the impression the work place is a vibrant and fun place to work! There is a lot of work that needs to be done at HP. Good luck!

    Pros

    Excellent people, long history in IT, great products. I've met many great people over the years and seen a lot and had exposure to lots of situations that have given me a tremendous amount of experience but unfortunately, HP has not provided for me sufficiently with compensation or development opportunities.
