I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of truly great people work here. Many of my colleagues are absolutely outstanding. Despite anemic R&D, HP still has a lot of great products.

    Cons

The company is a train-wreck, rife with executive-level mismanagement. There is ALWAYS the threat of lay-off, and the employees bear the brunt of the company's missteps and misfortunes over the last decade. This will not change anytime in the near future. CEO Meg Whitman says four years to get the company on track, which means another 4 years of career and compensation stagnation on top of the past five years (including one year with a 5% pay cut that we will never be able to make up).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get serious about Enterprise Services and stop letting the back-office manage everything. Get serious about cloud computing and show EVERYONE in ES how to sell it. Decide exactly how you want to compete in cloud services and then go after it.
