I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Diverse company with a lot of different cultures. Most Managers are understanding of the work-life balance and will accomodate employees as needed.

Cons

Cube work space environment and not much privacy available at work. Used to have nice profit sharing checks/bonues but not so much anymore. stock options are few and far between.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the employees better and promote from within and you will avoid the turnover in key areas.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to learn a wide array of technology and business skills. an employee can learn if he/she wants it.

    Cons

The ability to use those learning and skills they've gained for the benefit of the company, we the current reduction of employee HP is letting go good people without doing accessing what they are loosing with those employees that are leaving for any reason (WFR, Retirement, Self-imposed leaving)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be in touch to their subordinates no matter where they are (office, home office, different countries). get involved and communicate constantly, HP is a great company however, there is a sense of inestability and insecurity which is important i in a work environment; it is up to them to validade and provide a sense of security to their employees, constant communication will alliviate it
