I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

HP still has some of the brightest people doing interesting work.

Cons

Salary and benefits have steadily declined relative to market for the last 10 years.
Even if you do great work, one year you get a good bonus the next year it is crap.
Your manager will always have some excuse: "the division didn't do well so there is less mony for bonuses", or "other folks are doing an even better job. etc.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is aimless at the top. HP has been quick to acquire new technology or make investments only to pull them when it is not immediately successful. VPs are mindless. They are more worried about hiding their mistakes than making a success their divisions successful.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Its a full time job even if your a 2 year temp worker.

    Cons

They don't give raises even when you level up. They lie to your face about getting you that raise after you confront them several times or they come up with excuses why not to give you a raise. They do not supervise the employees well. They fire real quick as well as hire a whole bunch of people and fire them if they don't get up to speed they will let you go. They give you a week to build enough units and give you poor training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to what actually needs to be done to your company before you screw it over and make HP no longer available.
