I worked at Hewlett-Packard as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexibility of Schedule, Pay was ok, Access to a broad pool of potential jobs, experienced co-workers

    Cons

I was a slave. Go here, do this now, do that tomorrow, do this the next day. Jack of all trades. More tenured employees probably had a lot of consistency in their job, but mine was janitor one day and CTO next day. Felt a little thrown together. Training was non-existent. The word around the office was a Walmart greeter gets more training than the average HP EDS employee

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training program to promote the value proposition of HP from day one.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place if you want to work remotely, from a home office. The collaboration tools help you be part of a group "like you are actually there in the building".

    Cons

There is no consistency of management approach or style across divisions/groups/teams. Some are extremely good, some are quite dysfunctional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop consistent management styles and methodologies.
