    Pros

    - Large talent pool.
    - Interesting consulting projects

    Cons

    - No worklife balance. Expected to work 10 hour days at a minimum but realistically working 12 to 14 and weekends due to frequent layoffs and unwillingness to back fill positions.
    - Over commitment of personnel resulting in poor morale.
    - Promotions almost always come with no change in salary. (Often have to leave and come back to get a pay increase)
    - Politicing and bad behavior (bordering on unethical) often rewarded with advancement
    - Re-organization occurs too frequently.
    - Performance evaluation process outdated and ineffectual. (Too subjective)
    - Too slow to implement innovation in the marketplace

    Advice to Management

    - Senior mgmt. needs to end the cycle of re-organization to solve problems and actually do some root cause analysis to understand why departments are not meeting expectations.
    - Stop using promotion as a tool to move under performers out of departments and keep exceptional performers from advancing in their careers.
    - Empower your personnel. Encourage and reward creativity and new ways to do things. It will make your personnel feel like they have a stake in the success of the company; HP will be more agile in the marketplace and will in turn make the company more profitable.
    - When someone advances in their job code, their salary should be within the range of that job code. That is how you keep good people. Treat people fairly and they will bend over backwards to make your company successful!
