Go back to the HP way of William Hewlett and David Packard or face talent emigration to other companies

Offshoring, Increasing workload, Decreasing Compensation: Miserable

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

    Pros

Used to be a great place to work, but since Mark joined it has turned into a living nightmare. The costcutting is so severe that it is very difficult to do a good job. Hurd's version of HP hires untrained, unskilled workers in Asia for pennies, while US employees (at least those who haven't been laid off) pick up the slack.

    Cons

Employee lack of morale. Heard to cheer up my team when all I can offer them is cuts in benefits and pay, increasing workload, and colleagues in Asia with very limited skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HP will fail when all of the talent in "high cost geographies" leaves for greener pastures, leaving the penny-pinching bohemoth with low-skilled employees who will also leave as soon as they find better pay elsewhere (the norm in India and China).

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

    Pros

Outside people still have the image of HP from its glorious past.

    Cons

    1) Extremely poor working environment. Some cubes look like trash can. More and more people work from home to save cost?

    2) Repetitive and tedious working assignment.

    3) Management can be rude and manipulative. She just focus on her own needs and can easily push responsibilities to subordinates even it maybe completely her own fault.

    4) Lousy payment.

    5) How can so many people with online degrees get recruited into the company? such as university of Phoenix? Feel smothered. Mediocre people only creates mediocre company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You'd better behave decently.
