I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Good technical people that care about their work and customers

Cons

Upper management that cares only about hitting financial targets and need to care about their customers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Deep cost cutting via headcount cuts are rarely effective in the long run. Try delivering great customer service.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

It's a paycheck, though not a very large one.
    Free coffee (does that count?)

    Cons

Little to no communication from Team Leads/Supervisors.
LOTS of favoritism, skill/hard work aren't as important as being visible, unless it's time for QA reviews...
No control or say over your schedule, you work when you're told, period.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try asking employees how you can help make it more rewarding to work there, instead of viewing them all as numbers.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The Brand recognition is great for the PCs, Printers and Servers. It is a great place to work if you enjoy the hardware and network side of Technology.

    Cons

However, Enterprise Services (previously acquired EDS), and more specifically the Consulting Services groups are not publicized or marketed very well at all. So when we try to sell our services as Business Process or Management of Change consultants, our potential clients and even competitors do a double-take... Really??? Then we operate as a cost-recovery unit, meaning we can't set our own rates to be competitive or to support the cost of developing collateral needed to support our disciplines. This is not an effective management model for this business unit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either fully support our ES consulting practices or spin us off to PWC so we can do the work we love, and be effective at it!
