Pros

Entry level positions for recent college graduates
Relaxed environment
Intelligent and competent coworkers

Cons

Pay is low compared to similar positions at other locations
Have to stay for many years to advance
Upper management not in tune with employees
Structured processes may limit out of the box thinkers

Advice to Management

Grow and retain talent by offering higher pay and more incentives to do well. Offer more training and development for employees. Don't place so much emphasis on obtaining certain certifications in order to move up.

    Pros

    Work with dedicated, talented colleagues.
Lower- and mid-level management is pretty good, better in some ways than in the company's prime.
Some remnants of the HP Way remain. This is probably still a better than average company to work for, excepting the upper management blunders.
Challenging high-tech work in low-density area
    Wonderful place to raise family

    Cons

Upper management is short-sighted, follows current market fads, no vision despite the PR that things have changed. Current company is what Fiorina, Hurd, and Apotheker have made it.
Current upper management might be a small improvement over previous, but it's too little, too late.
Development funding constrained after all the mistakes made.
Still could be a good first job for someone out of school. Good place to learn. But plan on leaving after 2-4 years.

    Advice to Management

Break the company up, put us out of your misery. I would say no more major acquisitions, but that's already been taken care of, hasn't it?

    Pros

HP has a good reputation and provides a unique challenge its employees. They love employees who are willing to learn and attempt new things.

    Cons

There is a lot of business politics within the company ranks that can discourage you. The company environment is degrading.

    Advice to Management

Give more bonuses and benefits to employees for better productivity.
