Former Employee - Program Manager  in  Washington, DC
Former Employee - Program Manager in Washington, DC

Pros

10 days of child care per employee, can purchase vacation time! Benefits were very good. Lap top for each employee, and really responsive technical and HR support.

Cons

No good discounts on hardware. Found better prices at BestBuy. All in all, a solid company that one could retire in.

Former Employee - Solutions Architect in Denver, CO

    Pros

Somewhat stable due to enormous size.

    Decent benefits.

    Lots of products to sell.

    Longstanding reputation.

    Name recognition.

    Cons

To get a raise you have to quit first.

Negative reputation with customers and resellers.

    Quota changes every quarter.

    No respect from managers.

Horrible websites for self service benefits and documentation downloads.

Listen to employees complaints and recommendations instead of constantly asking for surveys but not responding to issues exposed in those surveys.

Encourage excellent customer service and reward customer satisfaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect and retain the talent in house. Promote from within instead of forcing employees to either quit or threaten to quit before considering salary increases.

Encourage training courses to keep employees current. Provide training for employees to maintain technical edge.

Stand behind employees and follow through on commitments.

Current Employee - Marketing  in  Boise, ID
Current Employee - Marketing in Boise, ID

    Pros

Corporate framework, supportive infrastructure, established tracks for advancement -- commensurate to quality of work, systems in place for frequent reviews and constructive feedback, strong product portfolio

    Cons

Corporate framework, convoluted infrastructure, tracks for advancement often function more politically than they should (not a true meritocracy), extreme bureaucracy often impedes innovation/progress/advancement (of both the individual and the company)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In product and roadmap design, establish a better line of sight to the customer, and incorporate more feedback from the "frontlines" -- Gartner, IDC, et al aren't everything.
