I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Technical training, cross-functional work experience.

Cons

A great change in the organization's corporate culture began in 2000. The resultant stream of acquisitions and mergers impacted policies on compensation for employees, and proved detrimental to employees well-being, and a loss of trust of senior management/ BOD.
My overall experience was not financially rewarding.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve on policies for remunerating employees.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

HP is a good organization to work for to get experience in a variety of fields for a computer company. They also have good insurance packages if you are hired. There are many opportunities to move around within the company. If you are lucky enough to be hired as an HP Employee you will have several benefits that some other companies do not offer.

    Cons

I have worked for HP since 2007. In that time I have lost % of my pay, HP stock and HP 401 match. HP is very "Off-Shore" oriented and have opted to go with contract workers instead of hiring workforce. This causes issues with keeping competant workers as you are only allowed to work for HP 2 years as a contract worker. Just when you get someone trained and they are good at their job, you lose them and their abilities to start all over.
There is a lot of constant management changes which is very hard on the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to Management would be to hire your contingent/contract workers so that we do not lose valuable trained workforce.
Also, bigger percentage raises are a must if you are going to keep your current workers. in 6.5 years, I only make $3 more now than when I started as a contract worker. It was only in the past year's raise that I moved from the teens into the low twenties range yet my workload has increased significantly.
