I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

Pros

Flexible work environment; able to work from home at my own discretion.
Compensation is amongst the leaders, not the highest but not the lowest.
Many career opportunities
Great people

Cons

Management driven primarily on the numbers, and less on the people. This is a little shortsighted as people are your #1 asset, and without their motivations the numbers will fall.
Reward and recognition programs needs overhauled. There is little motivation for employees outside of sales to give extra effort when there are no raises or rewards.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more back to the people, and deliver on the people promise. Ranting about numbers all day does nothing for company morale.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard

    Pros

Hewlett Packard Company is a decent place to work, with good benefits and fair compensation. One benefit is the company is generally very supportive of employees and their personal needs. If you need to take a leave or some time off, they are supportive.

    Cons

Being a very very large company, it is very easy to feel like a cog in a wheel at HP. Ther seems to still be a lot of dead eight and way too much bureaucracy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to create small teams that can bond together and feel like they can achieve things they put their collective minds to.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard

    Pros

Worked with a pool of intellegient, knowlegeable, and very hardworking software developers. They did some fantastic work in the context of multiple large project assignments, limited time and resources, and ever-changing product features requirements and customer delivery deadlines.

    Cons

Focus of upper and middle management always seemed to be on rewarding projects and products that provided immediate revenue and profit payoffs. Worthwhile attempts to improve current technology and processes were not given proper support, both poliitcal and business. Cost-cutting seemed to be the overriding objective, with employee benefits, retirement plans, severance packages constantly being further trimmed and ongoing layoffs a persistent threat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on creating releveant, high-demand products very well.
