I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great people, Flexibility to move around and learn different business. The company is going through transformation which provides a lot of opportunity to try and learn new things.

    Cons

The company is too big which makes it slow and sometimes bureaucratic. The bonus part of the compensation is not very high. The stock performance has been below S&P 500 so the return on ESPP and Stock compensation is low

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in R&D. Bring new product and innovation into the market.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of very sharp people working there. Products being worked on were cutting edge and unlikely to ever be outsourced to a third world country. Friendly environment.

    Cons

The group I worked with had a female manager but no female engineers. Very odd. Management didn't review progress often enough, especially with new hires. High turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Specify goals more clearly to new hires to reduce turnover. My recruiter indicated that they let a high percentage of new hires go very early. Need a better orientation program.
Female engineers generally make up around 30% of the workforce based upon what I have seen. I think I saw 10-15% at the locations where I worked.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
