Pros

great people that want to do a great job but are "hamstrung" by lousy leaders and suffocating processes!!

Cons

middle- and top-level managers take incompetence to new, incredibly high levels!! processes allow very little room for innovation and quick reaction to customer needs...

Advice to Management

get a clue on what needs to be done to become a top-performing company by LISTENING to the employees that are actually delivering the work!!

    Pros

Large company that can write its losses off to save other sectors. Pretty laid back work environment. They are not big into micro managing.

    Cons

Work processes are confusing and expectations not realistic.Real work often gets completed. Org changes are a monthly deal around there including frequent layoffs. Worked there for 2 years and had 3 managers. Leadership has been iffy due to poor sales, technology direction, a recent CEO change. It reminds me of a major league game being played with no formal playbook. Finally raises are null and void. Negotiate up front because you may be stuck with the same salary for years to come.

    Advice to Management

Devise a realistic plan and stick to it. Stop inventing stuff on the fly. Pay your employees that work at this billion dollar company!!! The outsourcing madness is costing more pain than having staff employees!

    Pros

I would have liked to listed several pros, but unfortunately all I can say is that it's better than unemployment.

    Cons

Salary Cuts, Massive Overtime without Compensation, The 'Open-Door' policy comes at the price of retaliation, No compensation for on-call, Retirement elimination and Workforce Reductions to a level that forces one employee to work as three. Rarely is a pay raise seen, and when it is seen, it doesn't even meet the annual increase in the cost of living, which effectively means that every year, you are making less money.

    Advice to Management

Since job satisfaction is impossible to achieve, the least that management can do is to support their employees by not trying to make things more difficult for them. However, the company's culture seems to be to 'crack the whip harder'. This style of management might work in the fast food industry (as it is designed to intimidate and make people feel like they are worthless and are lucky to even have the job they have), and you might even keep those with little experience, but when you are dealing with well trained professionals, eventually these professionals will wise up and find a job with a company where they are treated better.
