I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company to gain experience... good work life balance but that is diminishing as HP "piggy backs" Yahoo no WFH startegy

    Cons

Pay is very low compared to the market for the same experience and education...minimum to no pay increases in the last 5 years. Too many lateral moves and not enough of vertical advancement from a career perspective. It seems that if you are in management and have not performed well you get a "get out of jail free card" by swapping management positions with another peer manager as opposed to allowing a "promotable" candidate to move up. Very discouraging to employees that look to advance their career at HP.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look to advance the top performers that think outside the box; there are a lot of tenured employees at HP that do not add value but simply hide behind their years of experience..
