Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you knew layoffs are looming, please don't on the non performing employees for 5 years before they are let go. If it was done proactively, many of need not have let go.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Large, diverse, business opportunities.
Mostly surrounded by bright and capable coworkers.
History of providing not just solutions, but a piece of yourself into your contribution to the team.

    Cons

Management, and the employees who do just enough, because nobody takes responsibility or accountability for themselves.
Serious problem with backbiting and sandbagging your neighbor to advance your own situation.
Recently employee reviews were changed to foster a competitive environment, not the teamwork model that was a staple BC.......... as in before Carly F.

    Did I mention management?
Absolutely horrible ethics and ZERO leadership.
Marketing nonsense, with little substance at best.
Pernicious, ruthless and greedy more often, with little responsibility to ANYONE unless they affected compensation packages.

Like this nonsense from former CEO Fiorina:
"Human potential is the one limitless resource we have and yet it is wasted everyday. In our world and throughout our communities and places of work and worship, we face both vast opportunities and enormous difficulties. We can confront these only through creativity, leadership, empathy, determination, collaboration and problem-solving. We can only fully master our challenges by unlocking human potential."

Mark Hurd was simply a symptom of the greater issue at the NEW HP.
The Harvard business model took over, and all ethics and HP values were replaced to increase short term profit, at the expense of long term stability.

There is a reason the DJIA dropped HP in September 2013.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None.
Shareholders and employees, take back your company before you end up as the next Chrysler.
