Pros

Short walk from parking lot to entrance and 80% empty before 9am and after 5pm. Not a lot of work to do. Average age of employee is ~ 50.

Cons

Obscured and outdated policies. Quarter after quarter of losses have driven the most productive engineers away who could leave. Doesn't encourage innovation. Geographically diverse sites discourages true collaboration. Poor IT support.

    Pros

They will promise you the world

    Cons

Remember this is as a sub-contractor to HP working at Ft Knox and only pertains to that job -broken promises -lies -waste of tax payer money -no career advancement -get mad if you try to better yourself or leave to better yourself -managers are non-technical in charge of highly skilled IT professionals

    Advice to Management

go look at your team at HP, hold them accountable, be good stewards of the tax payers money, and manage the processes and people along with the money, not just manage the money and make sure they get bonus at end of year for keeping contractor pay as low as possible, you get what you pay for.

  2. A great adventure ... I am very grateful for the experience!

    Pros

    - The culture still has some spirit of the "Bill and Dave" era ... respect for individual - Lots of opportunity to work across various businesses and job roles - Working with bright, talented people - Tools and resources to get the job done

    Cons

    - Reward structure (salaries & benefits) used to attract the best, now strives for "industry norm" - If it's not a multi-billion business in a few short years, we're not interested - Attempts to invest in new business development have been largely shut down

    Advice to Management

It's not all about the next quarter. Some investments need time. If you don't plant seeds now, there will be nothing to reap later.
