I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than a year

Pros

Short walk from parking lot to entrance and 80% empty before 9am and after 5pm. Not a lot of work to do. Average age of employee is ~ 50.

Cons

Obscured and outdated policies. Quarter after quarter of losses have driven the most productive engineers away who could leave. Doesn't encourage innovation. Geographically diverse sites discourages true collaboration. Poor IT support.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    none I can think of

    Cons

Management: they don't know what they're doing, but are too arrogant to admit it; no communication down the chain, and they won't listen to any input coming up the chain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of middle managers in favor of people who actually DO something.

    I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time

    Pros

    Good to have a job

    Cons

If I could work for another company in this area, I would

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would be nice to see some females managing again (besides Meg). I suspect women don't earn as much as men even in regular jobs. No job stability but no opportunity to compensate for the risk.
