I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Decent benefit package, good work/life balance

Cons

pay increases and bonus almost non-existent, company is bloated and hard to get tasks accomplished because of the internal complexity, employee rating system causes internal turmoil

Advice to ManagementAdvice

make employees feel more valued - not just a number

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    I was able to work from home and have a flexible schedule.
    Could do my job without being micromanaged
    Good exposure
    Good coworkers
    Generally good clients
    Like Meg and her team, but wished that like carried through the other layers of management

    Cons

    With the company for 15 years and didn't even make the minimum salary range for my job code. There was no hurry to correct that...ever.
    Experience and high reviews count for little
    No visibility to any management
    Difficult to move up, and if you do don't expect to get paid for it
    They talk about education and training, but reimbursement is nearly impossible to get
    No raises. No bonuses. If your salary exceeds some threshold you find yourself on a rif list.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Those at the top need to understand what is going on at the bottom. Pay your employees competitively and don't just talk about it.

    I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Absolutely no pros working for HP. Do not be fooled.

    Cons

    Low pay, no raises, no upward movement. HP doesn't care about employees, it only cares about the bottom-line. HP is busy trying to offshore as many American jobs as they can to Taiwan, China, India and Costa Rica. Made-up performance reviews force good employees out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop the constant lay-offs. Stop re-organizing the company every 3 months. Stick to a strategy and execute.
