Former Employee - Technical Support Engineer in Houston, TX

I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

I'm really encouraged by Meg Whitman's vision and leadership. She's made many solid, significant changes to the strategy and culture that were long overdue. Overall, she comes across as candid, focused, and intelligent whether talking to employees, customers, or wall street.
HP is large and covers a wide range of technology offerings, there are lots of opportunities to move around and meet your career goals

Cons

The positive changes up top can take a long time to trickle down and just because I'm not a Meg fan, doesn't mean I'm seeing the same positive changes and leadership within individual business units.
-in manufacturing "factory" they only get lip service as far as opportunities to move around and meet your career goals

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The factory/operation managers need to be honest with there team, if you know what I mean.

    I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time

    Pros

All the Pros no longer exist. If you are unemployed and need a job, go for it, but don't come here if you are disatisfied with your current job since you wont find a happy place to work for in here

    Cons

The company demands more and more from the employees and in return keeps taking perks away, outsourcing jobs, there is no work-life balance, etc. There are few (if any) opportunities for advancement, but when those come by they already know who is getting it before it even gets a chance to post

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on employee morale

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
  2. Decent company to work for
