Really good people work here; working with such outstanding people has been the high point of working at HP.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Good values and ethics around how people should treat each other on the job; interesting work is there but you may have to move around some to find it; the pay is pretty good compared to other companies in the local area.

Cons

Things seem more political now than in previous years; non-executive employees are probably not rewarded as well as they once were.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

In general, people want to do a good job in their work for HP and see the company succeed. Reasonable guidance and management by objective, with generous rewards, can help employees to exceed expectations. Constant change and thrash make it difficult for employees to stay focused and know what is expected of them. Is there a way to manage the constant change so as to minimize road map, people, and values churn?

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I've had some really great managers. I enjoy the telework option my team has; this is what is currently keeping me at HP.

    Cons

Vague job description during interview and a bit mis-leading. I was moved into my current position without being consulted. I'm having a hard time getting my career path back on track.

You have to use vacation days for the mandatory Christmas shut-down, or not be paid.

Pay raises and bonuses are less than desirable while the company is still in recovery mode.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate your employees what they are worth, especially if you want the young ones to stay.
