I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Had good managers who supported my work & cared so trust level was quite high on our team
Part of a very functional, good group that was focused on results & doing what is 'right' for customers and employees
    Great colleagues

    Cons

Lots of cleaning house without an exciting new vision, blueprint for the new, contemporary house
Often left does not know what right hand is up to which means one can be spinning wheels
Often a lack of clarity and leadership to influence and bring the team along

Current Employee - IT Project Manager
Current Employee - IT Project Manager

    I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time

    Pros

Many different types of technology. New IT management is trying to move toward newer technologies which is exciting. The 1st level managers can be very good because they've recently been part of project teams and understand the challenges. IT has a better relationship with the business groups than in past years.

    Cons

The IT organization is still very bureaucratic and slow moving. The things that slow us down (formal, "one size fits all" processes) don't change, but the timelines keep getting shorter. It's political at all levels, which often results in decisions that are in the best interest of the person making the decision, not the best interest of the company.
