I have been working at Hewlett-Packard as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good atmosphere. There are a lot of senior researchers who would like to help. Most of the researchers are nice and do not put much pressure on the interns.

    Cons

The research projects are not very intersting to me. They have top people, but it seems like they are not working on the cutting-edge research

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

HP has a great work-life balance, especially with telecommuting. Work days are generally pretty laid back and low-stress. They have pretty good health benefits.

    Cons

Salary is extremely uncompetitive. Surprising lack of upward mobility (promotions, raises). Incredibly depressing and stagnant company culture. Way too many senior people working, with not enough focus on building up the younger/less experienced workforce. Do not know coworkers at all.

    Advice to Management

Hire more young people. Work on improving company culture, especially ways to improve relationships between coworkers (so we care about the people we work with and thus the company). Make salaries competitive with the marketplace.
