Current Employee - Field Technical Support Consultant in Nottingham, England (UK)
Current Employee - Field Technical Support Consultant in Nottingham, England (UK)

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

The HP Name on your CV should help anyone but they cut staff numbers not because the staff work in an area not profitable but because back in the USA they announce a certain percentage to be cut so divide that across the business units so staff are cut where they are needed, not a customer oriented company but rather a share price and investor oriented company

Cons

the challenges are getting to the right department when you need to - constantly round in circles and no accountability, very shoddy in their treatment of soon to be redundant staff and unions

Advice to ManagementAdvice

consistency would be great and why are there so many upper management job changes

Doesn't Recommend
Negative Outlook
No opinion of CEO

Former Employee - Quality Engineer II in Erskine, Scotland (UK)

I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I worked in Erskine for about 16 months and the only positives I can talk about are the good facilities (gym, restaurants, car park) and there's a lot of nice people working there.

    Cons

I worked in the UK Public Sector area which deals with government bodies e.g. Department for Work & Pensions, MOD etc. This part of the business is going down hill fast and they're constantly cutting costs, people. Senior management are so tight it's unreal! Like a typical multi-conglomerate there is no direction and so many conflicting priorities from managers who don't bother to communicate with one another.
No wage increase this year and a pathetic bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a back bone and start investing in the people of the company.
