Pros

Right leadership in place to make a difference, cuts hurt but they are needed, work hard and you will get rewarded, do a good job of allowing you to balance work/life.

Cons

Still not working as a single company, individual BUs working well just not well together.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't let a hardware mentality get in the way of providing great services.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good products, good service and people who care.

    Cons

Company miss-managed over the last 10-15 years. Too many CEOs and changing directions has caused the company to lose focus. Currently employees are hanging on waiting out the next work force reduction; keeping their head low. Standardization efforts has cause the company to "manage by metrics" forgetting the reason for the metrics. Process compliance is stifling creativity. Also, continual purchasing of companies versus creating within cause continuous challenges of making it all work together.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enable your employees the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. reduce reliance on the web portals and allow your managers to manage their employees. Build trust, allow your employees to learn and create.
