Pros

Have always enjoyed a flexible work schedules with remote work options - although, it's disappointing to see this has been recently changing in favor of long hours on-site. Collaborative environment - have worked with many dedicated and smart people who genuinely care about team success. In general, have found support for personal growth and development.

Cons

Growing pressures to continue to do more and more with less and less. Recent years have seen little to no movement in salary growth and a shrinking in benefits packages. Difficult to drive change and make progress with long history of complex and convoluted business processes.

  1. Great people. The company was not in a place that fit my view on how to address customer needs.

    Pros

Great benefits. Most companies don't cover some of the medical treatments that they do with the HP coverage.

    Cons

Hours are long. Bureaucracy is brutal.

  2. Helpful (1)

The cultural change was dramatic in coming from another company HP bought and seemed to provide less client delivery.

    Pros

Exposure to large scale systems and clients while daunting at times, provided the potential for a solid and professional growth path in numerous areas.

    Cons

The constant worry over the next down-sizing and difficulty in finding internal positions due to budget constraints which affects morale, work product and work-life balance.

    Advice to Management

There is another side to an employee's value than just the real revenue they bring in, such as in the value of cost avoidance projects and not the RIF type. Besides reducing overall corporate costs in the long run, they can increase customer satisfaction, improve the effectiveness, delivery and timeliness of internal systems, etc. which can positively affect the bottom line as well.
