I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Great work environment and benefits. Friendly people with great experience. Campus is large and beautiful. Easy to shift between teams and experience a large variety of complex projects.

Cons

It is a large company. A company that tends to try and solve every problem by adding more layers of approvals, paperwork, and shutdowns then wonders why it can't keep up with other companies. Also loves to solve budget problems by cutting workforce then getting even more perplexed on why they are moving slower.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have an incredibly talented and powerful workforce. Give them the power to win! This means you have to take some risks but your people are very capable of minimizing these risks and exceeding expectations. Your release processes are so outdated, overprotective, and sometimes just plain absurd that none of your teams can reach their potential.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Great benefits and wonderful co-workers

    Cons

Constant outsourcing of positions to other countries causing delays in work and language barriers. US based employees WFR'd due to all the outsourcing. Pay your employees better, the phrase "it is what it is" is all you here when you ask for raise or cost of living increase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop outsourcing the client account was perfectly fine before outsourcing was introduced.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Global presence, wide use of it's products in all industries. Renewed focus on R&D to grow business.

    Cons

Constant threats of layoffs over the last 2.5 years. Stagnant or negative growth severely limiting raises and bonuses. With the reduced head-count, work-life balance is non-existent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While the bottom line is important, they need to focus on the people who make the company work.
