I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

Pros

Very dynamic company with an eye on personal relationships. Performance driven and business oriented: great place to have it on your curricula.

Cons

When there are problems the first cut are for technical consultants: no trainings, no benefits, no bonuses, while the high management take metirs for making margins.
Not a good place for good salaries: technical skills are not considered a quality.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership management should learn more about company products and services rather than company business. Cost cutting is not the right way to take the bonus at the end of the year.

    Pros

Excellent benefits, provides professional employees with a lot of autonomy and responsibility.

    Cons

You are one of over 220,000 employees world-wide. The personal touch with your upper leadership is no longer possible. Leadership used to put the extra efforts to support top performing employees, not they are a bit gun shy to tip the cart by supporting long-time top performers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are many opportunities within the company left unfilled, people managers need to do a better job of protecting their good employees. Sr. leadership needs to allow organizations to move people from one org to another without using WFAs. Give the employee the option of knowing the opportunitity is a short-term option and the emplyee needs to continue to fine a more permenent offer within.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

    Pros

HP is pretty good at allowing the employees to have flexible schedules. It is nice to have that flexibility of what your work hours are. The lower management is pretty good and tries to release quality products and cares for the employees.

    Cons

Besides the flextime, there is little benefit to working for HP. In fact, that is one of the few benefits left. There are a lot of hardworking, experienced people at the company. Over the past several years they have seen nothing but pay decreases and benefit cuts while the stock continues to climb. This strongly implies the upper management has little appreciation for all the people that make the company a success. The people that survived all the layoffs now have a much heavier workload with no benefit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the employees with respect and show them that their work is valued. Actions are louder than words and please read the annual employee surveys. Most of the workforce says they they want a job at another company.
