I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

Pros

What makes working at HP satisfying is that we still have the same EDS upervisors and managers that continue the old EDS culture.

Cons

Enterprise Services is treated as a step-child at HP.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leaders from HP need to stop talking down to Enterprise Services employees during meetings.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

    Pros

The pay is pretty good, benefits are good as well and you get to wear jeans every day of the week.

    Cons

Unrealistic performance grading, unsympathetic towards employees in family crisis. Team leads have no interpersonal skills and pass on an abundance of stress. Sometimes a very tense work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to management is to hire more people to cover the contract that requires extreme adherence to a very strict SLA.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

    Pros

    Flexible work environment.
Immediate level leadership is great - executive leadership is completely unaware of reality and has those below them fearful of telling the truth.

    Cons

No raises for anyone but Executives for years and years now.
Cost cutting in benefits severely impacted several people this past year.
Hundreds of lay-offs - those left are working 60-70 hours a week to make up the slack.
No training except corporate / legal required training - like "how to use our new expense report system".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out how to run the company at a profit the hard way instead of taking the easy way out by just cutting heads to make the numbers. That, or decide the numbers will just be flat in a bad economy in order to do the right thing and treat people fairly.
Pay people what they are worth. Re-institute salary increases - it would be nice after 4 years to get something, anything.
Either treat people correctly or stop calling people important. You can't have it both ways.
Give up your greed and turn over a new leaf.
