good people and nice benefits,

Cons

People who can talk will survive in this company. People are not recognized for the work that is done

Advice to ManagementAdvice

get rid of the upper management. People with no credentials are being promoted to management

    I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

    Pros

    Work can be rewarding. Generally, excellent mid-level contributors dedicated to their work. Good experience in a large organization.

    Cons

    Employees are now a commodity. Talent drain in downsizing programs and lack of career development has left huge gap in management. Forced ranking, position downgrading (same pay for greater responsibilities) being used to create turnover and further lower employee costs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Institute a real rewards program for employees. Provide real career development opportunities. Try to look past the next quarter.

    Pros

    Many of the non-managerial people and some of the managers are great. .

    Cons

    The management. Given the "up or out" HR strategy implemented by Mark Hurd and his management team, 20% of employees/managers will stab anyone in the back to get ahead. Not a good environment.

    "Young sharp guys in ties" -- is this what your customers look like?
