Pros

After a decade of ignoring their engineers, HP is finally figuring out that it cannot function without engineers. What a concept! The new CEO is trying to restore benefits that have been cut. There is now some hope that HP can return to its former glory provided the company continues to perform in the market place.

Cons

Morale is still low within the workforce. Some of the best people have moved on. Lots of bad decisions made over the years need to be reverted.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engineers are not interchangeable cogs like CEOs and accountants!

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard

    Pros

good work life balance and ability to work from home

    Cons

    - 5% salary cut (although they are giving it back)
    - no raises
    - cut benefits
    - management not trustworthy, afraid of senior management
    - senior management dis-attached from the employees
    - lack of career development/advancement (there is a lot of talk about, but that's about it: just talk)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Restore the benefits, give raises to people who deserve them, make it so it is possible to have a career in HP.
