  1. Frustrating, demoralising and stressful. I would not recommend it to anyone.

    Pros

Can't think of one reason at the moment.

    Cons

Hypocritical leaders who receive millions of dollars in bonuses every year at the expense of their "most valuable assets". HP was the first global company to halt all employees' salary increases, promotions, bonuses while, at the same time continuing to hand out millions of dollars to its Leaders. If HP's Leaders were really concerned at reducing their operating costs, then they could save the company approx $100M every year by sacrificing their excessive bonuses (shared between 6-7 Leaders) and retaining their "most valuable assets". See the Reuters site for details of bonuses awarded to the main Board over the previous 5 fiscal years.

    Advice to Management

Re-instate salary increases and promotions immediately. If you truly value your employees, then "put your money where your mouth is" instead of picking the "soft targets" from the results of employee surveys. Reward and punishment is the most basic method of encouraging the right behaviours. HP Leaders prefer to use only punishment (threats of dismissal for unethical behaviour except if the perpetrator is the CEO) and ignore the rewards. Salary increases are justified now that the global recovery has started, inflation is rising and people are struggling financially.

  2. It was a great experience
