    Pros

The main reason for working at HP are the people

    Cons

    HP pays under its competitors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A constant statement from Senior Management is how important HP's people are, yet pay and recognition are recognised as being lower than it's competitors. There have been many surveys asking for employee feedback with little concrete action. I'd recommend identifying a number of key areas of concern, put in place a plan to resolve them, and regularly report progress.

Company has gone thru many changes, some good, some bad.

    Pros

    Stable company so far.
Employees share in the good and bad times.

    Cons

HR group needs work. Commonly referred to as 'black hole'. Long periods between salary increases for good performers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the employees. It's fair to note that you can't please everyone, but I think the employees message for the past several years has been consistent: reward performance! Giving back the 5% cut applied 2 years ago as a 'salary increase' which ends up being lower than the original 5% taken wasn't truthful. You were re-setting base salaries to what they were 2 years prior before the 5% cut. People are leaving HP leaving due to poor treatment., no salary increases, etc. Employees are no longer loyal; it's now become 'just a job'. People used to be HP's greatest asset; actions aren't substantiating that claim anymore.
Stop the split of having '2 companies' in HP; i.e. legacy EDS and legacy HP. We are still not 1 company.
