I worked at Highlights for Children

Pros

Benefits are good. Co-workers are pleasant, although generally apathetic about their jobs or the quality of their work.

Cons

Middle management in IT is clueless. They have little idea what they are doing and their hiring decisions reflect that. Salaries are low. Politics abound at this company. Everyone is fighting over scraps.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Evolve or die. No one really cares about your product(s) anymore.

I worked at Highlights for Children

    Pros

The hours are set, Monday thru Friday in two different first shift hours so you get off early enough to do things in the evening. Coworkers are like family and easy to get along with.

    Cons

They pick and choose who they wish to choose who and when policies apply towards. If you come in as a temp, you only get 8hrs of scheduled time off, without pay and any additional requested time off earns an occurrence. The job is extremely repetitive and upselling is required with no compensation and pay wages are low. There's a lot of micro managing that goes on and they don't seem to appreciate they're employees.

  2.

A waste of time, the IT department lacks focus on on direction.

I have been working at Highlights for Children

    Pros

The opportunity to bring in solid work experience in technology.

    Cons

Leadership is just not experienced in the direction they claim to be heading.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tighten up what exactly you want to do and how you plan to deliver this. Road map.... What road map is the impression I got while interviewing there. Invest the time to come up with a strategy or if you have one make sure the people interviewing talent knows how to properly communicate this.
