I have been working at Highmark full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Very Stable. Highly competent coworkers. Convenient downtown location. Payscale is fairly strong. relatively transparent

Cons

A lot of overlapping responsibilities. Extensive review process for outgoing materials (checkers checking checkers). Uncertain market landscape.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to promote and encourage innovation. This is the only thing that can keep us moving forward.

    It is downtown Pittsburgh, parking is expensive

    Pros

    Employees are considered valuable company assets not just numbers. The health care benefits package is very generous which is very important in these times.

    Cons

    There is some uncertainty as to how Highmark is going to weather the Obamacare storm. As with all Health Insurance companies there is a lot of work to do to stay competitive.

    Make sure to not neglect what is important for what is urgent.
