Pros

Decisions could be driven from bottom up if you have air support.

Cons

Constant leadership changes, unclear company's direction, continuous struggle between Batesville locals and outsiders.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Company's directions always get hijacked by the locals. Need to get the company out of this downward spiral. 80% of company's energy and resources are consumed by internal politics. Need to cut out the bullshits and get back with competitions.

    Pros

On a local level management allows flexibility in work schedule to alow for dealing with life events. There is generally a good cohesive team effort. Work conditions are generally not too arduous and the work environment is clean.

    Cons

Over the past few years it seems that the Hill-Rom culture has changed. Understandably every company has performance measures to meet. Over the years is seems that more emphasis has been on hitting the numbers and less focus on actually doing the job and keeping the customer happy. Limited variety of specific jobs unless you are able to relocate to another region.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Move the Ivory tower back to Batesville. What is the cost benefit of having the C suites in Chicago (cost per sq feet) over being in Batesville where the hub of operations has been since the company's founding??? Focus more on the customer and doing the job effectively and focus less on increasing the measures to the point to where they are nearly unattainable.
