Pros

Intelligent co-workers, great history of products to be associated with, medical device industry has weathered the economic malaise better than many other industries

Cons

Promotions tend to be more political than they should be - it's who you know, and not so much what your results have been.
Frequency of RIF's is too much a part of the corporate culture and has a long term negative effect on those who continue to "survive" these all too frequent bloodlettings to hit the quarterly numbers for the "Street"
Executive management team is too disconnected with what is going on in the enterprise

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't just churn your "most valuable resources" - you are losing too many good people who truly care
Walk the talk - allow for some risk taking - don't shoot the messengers, or you risk losing the ability to innovate.

    Pros

Work from home days are good. Management is sensitive to needs regarding family/kids. People with minimal goals and need for small-town environment seem happy.

    Cons

A large number of people in the IT department don't know the bare basics about technology, including management.
Management is secretive, their plans and goals are mysterious and change a lot.
    Company is extremely risk-averse.
It is very difficult to get anything done due to a culture of complacency, fear of change, bureaucratic red tape.
Towers of the organization don't work together and often hinder each others plans. No obvious overall leadership in many cases.
IT seems to be headed in a direction of outsourcing/downsizing.

    No opinion of CEO
