    I worked at Hill-Rom

    Pros

Intelligent co-workers, great history of products to be associated with, medical device industry has weathered the economic malaise better than many other industries

    Cons

Promotions tend to be more political than they should be - it's who you know, and not so much what your results have been.
Frequency of RIF's is too much a part of the corporate culture and has a long term negative effect on those who continue to "survive" these all too frequent bloodlettings to hit the quarterly numbers for the "Street"
Executive management team is too disconnected with what is going on in the enterprise

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't just churn your "most valuable resources" - you are losing too many good people who truly care
Walk the talk - allow for some risk taking - don't shoot the messengers, or you risk losing the ability to innovate.
