Pros

Hard work and integrity pays off at Hill-Rom. Do your job and you will be rewarded. Great products that I can support and stand behind.

Cons

Long hours. Being in a 24/7 hour business can be challenging at times. Customers can be extremely demanding. Make sure you love customer service to take this job.

Advice to Management

Salary adjustments based on FTEs and service geography. Some new managers being hired in at more than I make with being in the position for 6 years.

    Pros

Good benefits while you get to help patients and thier caregivers

    Cons

The job will suck the life out of you. Micromanagers. Make you feel as if they do not trust you. They like to keep employees in the dark about future plans. Lead you to beleive they are doing things for one reason while the real reason is to get all of your contact informations so that they can get rid of you and provide the benefits of your hard work to some HS graduate at the corporate office to continue bringing in business from the relationships you formed.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees and don't treat them like they are nothing more than a number on a peice of paper. Stop lying to your loyal employees then throwing them out like the trash in your trash can.

    Pros

    1. Product itself and what I learned while contracting was interesting. 2. Learned how to cope with difficult experience, which itself can be helpful.

    Cons

    1. Very low morale. 2. Company culture not cooperative or synergistic. 3. Communication within and among departments seemed lacking. 4. Motivation-by-fear seemed to be the norm.

    Advice to Management

    1. Put priority on employee morale; hire outside consultants on this if necessary. 2. Avoid hiring or retaining managers (mid or senior) who "hold accountable" (threaten to fire) subordinates while they themselves fail to lead by example. 3. Judge progress of senior management itself by ability to retain employees (objective measurement) and by employee morale (subjective, gleaned by reading between the lines). 4. Whenever possible, encourage real cooperative productivity. Eg: assign projects and tasks to teams when possible rather than individuals.
