I worked at Hilton Worldwide full-time

    Pros

    - Its mission and values are for real. Hospitality and operational experience permeate everything. Work is clearly related to impact - no science fairs.
     - Went private in 2006 and de-constructed, so it has a real feel of starting new. Alot to do.

    Cons

    - After restructuring, staff recovered but executive didnt. Protective, defensive non-collaborative culture.
     - Tight budgets and very limited staffing. Hard to believe it's size can function with so few people. As a result, there's alot of talk and not much action.
     - Hospitality and respect values have a dark side: Politeness replaces accountability for performance or behavior.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Clarify who is in charge. Blackstone management (Hilton's owner) is more involved and influential than Nasetta (CEO) and the have a very different set of priorities.
    2. The untold cost of the Mckinsey outsourcing strategy is already understood by large companies. Reassess and remedy.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
