Pros

its world wide you get opportunities any where in the world. benefits are great but they all depend on the franchise owner.

Cons

low wages and varied work schedule and hours. even pay raises are very low. You expect to spend 1.5 yrs to get $1.00 raise.

    I worked at Hilton Worldwide full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Night shift is quiet. You work alone.

    Cons

    You do all the dishes/trash/floors/prep/cook. Including when there is a banquet. They seat over 100 in dinning room and 250 in meeting rooms. Day shift gets hit with all you can eat buffet. Night person (crew) preps for them. You are alone after 8pm till 1am. This location is minutes from airport. In the winter the flights get canceled because of snow up north. Guests come in at $80 a night paid by airline. Bread and butter to hotel. They fill up all the rooms. You have to start making 200 cookies (from frozen dough) and get out and kiss a$$ to the people waiting for their rooms. Angry people too. FGCU college sports teams stay here. When out of state teams come in they take over the hotel. Then its spring break time. They are fun compared to snow bound guests. You deal with angry people all the time. Hilton has a 100% money back deal if you are not satisfied. People try their best to find fault. You will get slammed in the kitchen cooking for 150+ alone al la cart menu. Kitchen is build for breakfast. Not dinner. Staff is hired for their bubbly big friendly attitude. Brain dead. Most are 18 year old college students. They are allowed to mix drinks. Against the law but who cares. They smile and keep their shirts buttoned low. "How do you make a Gin and Tonic?"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You all go home at 5pm and watch us on security camera over the internet from your homes. Call in to tell us off. You shouldn't let staff use unmade rooms for free. They bring in their mistress and trash the place. Food and cases of beer walk out the back door at shift change. Watch those cameras not the one pointing at the check in girls or the pool. Hire dinning room night manager. Don't expect the cook to do it. Hire a dish washer or two. Dont bowwow from the house keeping staff. Stop hiring ex-cons. People with multiple felony convictions are not good employees. One felon had violations every two years for the same thing. Four time felon. As long as it wasn't stealing, they let them work. Im all for rehab, but you are hiring the lowest of the low. Take note of who is using your spare rooms to f*ck guests they pick up at the bar that they poured free drinks into. Under age college girls are a easy favorite target.

    For a company that's run by Mormon bible belt CEO's you would think it would be a safe place for families.

    Pros

    Benefits for you and your children. They have a union.

    Cons

    The seniority can be difficult at times because the schedule is based on who was hired first.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    It is a wonderful company to work for. The pay and benefits are wonderful. The hotel industry is however a lot of work regardless of what department. Most employees have been there 20-30 years.
