Hitachi Data Systems – “HDS should invest in their people, not in politics.”
2 of 2 people found this helpfulPros
- There are opportunities for tele-commuting. It is nice to have a more flexible schedule. Those people juggling family or school responsibilities will appreciate this benefit.
-Some colleagues who suffer from similar bureaucratic trappings are great to lean on and can be very helpful as time permits.
Cons
-The medical benefits are very limited.
-The silos are appalling. It is very difficult to find the right people to talk to and the organizational culture generally does not encourage questions or want their employees challenging the institutionalized processes and procedures.
-Management does not recognize hard work.
-There is no opportunity for growth or promotion.
-There is not a good mechanism for delivering feedback about management that would actually make a difference.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in your people. Especially front line and middle managers that may have great technical skills but are sorely lacking in managing others from a performance, development, and succession perspective. A talent management process must be created so the younger people in the organization have a chance to grow and develop within the company. Many talented people have left the organization because there seems to be no support for growth and development and no real recognition of a job well done. Improve your compensation packages so you can remain competitive and attract top talent to the organization.
