I worked at Ho-Chunk full-time for more than a year

Pros

Great Insurance, fair pay, with good people to work around on a day to day situation.

Cons

Very unsure of company goals and intent being a government contractor. Unstructured upper management and company presidents not understanding the industry at which they wanted to hold self performance.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update tracking on all self performance activities. Have checks and balances to make sure all employees are meeting set goals and deadlines.

I worked at Ho-Chunk full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits for salaried employees (very different from hourly options) and some great co-workers. Lots of learning opportunities and challenging work.

    Cons

If you are not native and/or work in the Winnebago office, you are not worth anything to management and the general assumption is that you don't do much useful work.
Every single decision has to travel up a long chain of command, there are no quick decisions (sometimes weeks just to get an answer) and you have to answer to 5 different people. At any given point in time the given direction can be reversed or no clear decision is ever made. Upper management is dysfunctional and has little clue about the industries it is trying to operate in. Be prepared to get chewed out by upper management at least once a month. The employees have lots of responsibilities, but no power to decide.
There are great disparities in work load and pay between locations, sometimes not entirely justified.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a direction and follow it, make a decision and follow it. Lay out clear responsibilities, especially on the upper level. It is not a motivational tool to crush employee's spirits.
