Pros

This is a company where you have educated colleagues and staff around you that constantly strive to do better, which only pushes a motivated employee to perform well. Those who perform well are rewarded with promotions and bonuses/incentives on top of decent salaries.

Cons

Long hours during peak seasons and chronic staff shortages in critical support areas (development, client relations, internal ticket resolution) can lead to fatigue and burnout. Work areas need to be more ergo-friendly and computers need to be exchanged every 2 instead of 3-4 years.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Convince DMGT/DMGI to allow more profits of Hobsons to stay at Hobsons, to maintain better staffing levels, and better workstations and computers.

    Pros

    Good amount of time off, good benefits, casual work environment, young and progressive thinkers. Account Managers are given a lot of autonomy in how they handle their clients, etc. You can expect to develop very deep relationships with your clients. Coworkers are friendly, hardworking, and intelligent. Charity work is encouraged and a part of the company culture.

    Cons

    Very little room for advancement. People are promoted into positions without any other employees being given the opportunity to interview or submit a resume for those positions. There is constant restructuring, and this has often created disadvantages to employees who have been there for several years. The work load is very heavy, and can be extremely stressful. Account Managers are expected to develop high-level technology expertise, but are not compensated accordingly. Bonuses, incentives, and commission structures have all been changed, and not in the employee's favor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Employees need to be able to advance as they develop experience in your organization. It should be mandatory that all new positions be advertised to current employees so they have the ability to express an interest. When new initiatives are announced, follow through with them - provide updates and reports when promised. Develop your managers - many have absolutely no background or education in management - they need leadership training. Provide professional training opportunities for all employees - leadership training, prioritization, communication, conflict resolution, etc.
