I worked at Holiday Inn Express part-time for more than a year

Pros

You will have fun working here. Both the staff and the guests that stay love to be there and if you are outgoing, you will fit in right away.

Cons

The maintenance staff is awful, technology crashes every day, and you are overly stressed. There are too many cliques between FD, housekeeping, and management.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please change this hotel and FAST. The front desk staff does not get paid enough for the amount of work that is put in to the hotel.

    I worked at Holiday Inn Express full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Education and learning opportunities, good pay, decent line level staff. It was a good opportunity to make contacts in the business community.

    Cons

    Rapid turnover (you will eventually be fired or worn down to quitting), unbelievably incompetent management, hostile environment, poor goal setting (contradictory goals). This place is deeply in the hole and you will be required to make up for shortfalls you had nothing to do with. Management thinks nothing of screaming at you because they feel like it. Owners are a non-entity and they should be on site at least a bit to provide guidance. You will just be told do this today and the next day be told to do the opposite. If you like chasing your tail, this is the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Trust your people and invest in them, loyalty is not what can you do for me today. Operations management are truly despicable human beings. You need to be on site every week and foster openness with the employees who will tell you the harsh truth so you can understand how truly awful the culture of poison is.

    I worked at Holiday Inn Express part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    The only pros I can think of are the employee discount and the occasional staff lunches. Good location. Didn't have to work hard if you don't want to. Good place for lazy workers.

    Cons

    -housekeeping manager plays favoritism/lies/talks behind your back
    -housekeeping manager doesn't follow health & safety (hides stuff upon inspections)
    -housekeeping manager always wanted to go home early so she made housekeepers clean the rooms in half the time (so rooms are still dirty)

    Get rid of housekeeping manager
