    Company with an awesome mission, and a workforce with no energy

    Pros

    Excellent mission, a company you can be proud to say you're part of.

    Cons

    deeply entrenched management and work flows.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hologic is a company with a tremendous product line, great overall ethos. For all the good it does as a company, the workforce is extremely low energy. Company grew through acquisition, and now has a dozen different ways of operating, which creates multiple redundant positions and more red-tape than you can imagine.
    ADVICE TO NEW CEO:
    Don't be afraid to really shake things up and clean house. Focus on sales and marketing in the short term and organic growth and R&D in the mid term. Consolidate sites and get the company lean from top to bottom.

    I worked at Hologic full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Salary definitely right at market;
    At times decent work environment, especially for engineers;

    Cons

    Politics, politics and more politics - to the point it got completely absurd. At the end it mattered more who you kissed up to than what you accomplished - which was reflected by the annual round of promotions: To borrow from Oprah "You are a VP, you are a VP and you are a Director, and you..."

    But as a disgruntled former employee I may see it a bit bleak - You decide: How many VPs does a business of approx. 3000 employees need? Does 100 sound right to you?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get back to the basics - remove half of the management layers and start producing cutting edge technology. Again.
